CAMPAIGNERS - A DofE (NATIONAL) LICENSED ORGANISATION

Picture
Although for practical purposes nothing has changed, Campaigners is now a Licensed Organisation with the DofE. It has come about because the DofE have been examining and updating their structures.

The scheme is aimed at young people aged c14 to 25, so falls within our Delta programmes.

The booklet for our annual day of prayer was sent out some time ago prior to the day but it can still be downloaded from this website.

It is a useful resource for ongoing prayer so why not keep it with your Bible.
  • It contains listings for your daily prayer time. If we all use this it would mean that there could be 400+ Friends praying for the movement 90 years on!
  • The theme is on LOVE.
  • The items of prayer are numbered 1 – 31, one for each day of the month.
  • It contains photographs to help you visualise the people in your prayers.

90TH BIRTHDAY EVENT

6th October 2012 was a bright and sunny day in Coventry, so we were able to celebrate as planned -- the wet weather programme was not needed.

The service, led by the group Double Impact, started at 11.00am and  was attended by Campaigners & supporters from all over the Country. It contained elements for all who attended: from the youngest Junos, though Crosstrax and Delta, right up to our retired supporters and "Friends". A great time of Praise and Worship thanking the Lord for the last 90 years, while looking forward to our future in His service.

After the time in Church we had a "picnic" lunch in the Hall at Christ Church and then moved on to Kenilworth Castle for the afternoon. Despite rumours, there was no climbing on walls and everyone had a good time.

An excellent day, enjoyed by all  ........ now for the 100th!
Our thanks go to the teams that planned and hosted the event.

OUR NEWEST TEAM MEMBER

Many of you will have seen us advertising for a Development Coordinator over the summer period.

The responses were good and there were good number of high quality applications. Interviews were held at Coventry and our panel of Trustees finally invited Tim Greenhalgh to take on this challenging appointment.

Edwins Sowerbutts (Vice chair) [left] and Graham Payne (Chair) [right] welcome Tim [centre] at his induction early in September.
Tim started on 1st September and has already met with the Board of Trustees and agreed a strategy for his early months with us. More of this later, as his role develops.

Please pray for Tim as he takes up this key appointment, that the Lord will equip him and give him a vision for growth in Campaigners in England and Wales.

CAMPAIGNERS BACK AT KESWICK

Picture
Static display board

It has been many years since Campaigners last took part in the Keswick Convention.

We joined in from 14th to 20th July, the first week of the three week event.

Our stand was set up to advertise our organisation to attendees who hopefully included local church leaders and members. The team that manned the stall were encouraged by the contacts made and felt that it was really worthwhile taking part because they were able to:
  • show that Campaigners still exist, not only in England & Wales but also in Scotland and Northern Ireland
  • renew friendship with former Campaigners and present supporters and to
  • share information about us with enquirers
and also give wristbands to children and young people.
Trustees will be reviewing our attendance at this event and whether to do the same, or more, for next year. It is expected they will look at attending other similar Christian events.
We pray that the contacts made on this occasion and in future will bear fruit as we seek to grow.

ANNUAL DAY OF PRAYER

Sunday 20th May 2012

The special day that we try to set aside to pray especially for Campaigners. On this occasion it is particularly relevant as we celebrate 90 years of ministry. In this way we can be sharing the day joining together with over 500 praying Friends.

Picture

The prayer booklet that we will send out at the beginning of May will be accompanied by a 90th birthday wristband. Wearing these on this Sunday at church may lead to questions and offer opportunities to share about the ministry of Campaigners.
