Extracts from the CO's Camp Report .........
..... We had an Olympic theme this year with the orderly groups being split into Team GB (England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales) The Delta group often had their own programme, designed by Mike and Simon. Other activities during the week included games on the field, quizzes, craft and toasting marshmallows on the camp fire.....
..... We had a daily (except Sunday) tuck shop supplied by Maureen, with a variety of small sweets and fizzy drinks as well as a Christian book/gift shop supplied by Bob and Julie and a small gift/toy shop supplied by Viney Hill which sold small things like skipping ropes, bubbles and whoopee cushions.....
..... We had a brilliant team of staff this year, each bringing their own special gifts and talents to the camp. Everyone seemed to get on very well together, helping out without being asked......
..... our QMs .... provided us (with) a varied menu all week, planned around what young people like to eat. There was plenty of food with meals such as pasta, fish fingers, sausages followed by strudel, ice cream, fruit and custard going down really well. Lunches consisted usually of salad with pizza, cheese, jacket potatoes, etc, followed by fruit/yoghurts and chocolate biscuits. Breakfasts were varied with eggy bread, sausage, bacon, beans, etc, cereals and plenty of toast. Hot chocolate and biscuits were served for supper by the leaders to give the cooks a break. Squash, water, tea and coffee was available throughout the day.

..... Our chaplains this year were Helen Webster (Junos/ CrossTrax) and Mike Loughlin (Delta). Helen used an Olympic theme based on Hebrews 12:1-3. Her presentation was excellent with worship songs, activities, video clips and a variety of interesting methods of prayer. She also prepared booklets for our morning quiet times that linked to the previous night’s story and led by various leaders in small groups.
Mike concentrated going through the booklet “2 ways to live”. Paul and Sarah (two of the Delta) led the worship sessions. This opened up many questions that the young people had and these were dealt with sensitivity and prayer. Although we were unable to join the Delta sessions, the feedback from Mike and others was excellent and the Delta group seemed to enjoy everything and were challenged by what he did. The adult thought times was led by Kirsty and Julia in the morning, focusing on John 15 – Jesus, the True Vine - and challenged us to focus on what this meant in our lives and to stay close and focus on our Lord. Judy led the evening sessions with a short meditation with an opportunity for prayer and reflection. These important meetings required more time than initially allocated, especially allowing for daily notices..... Colin & Tracy Guy, Camp Leaders
